The clean diesel engine that delivers best-in-class fuel economy for both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Ram 1500, has been named one Wards 10 Best Engines for third straight year – the longest tenure of any engine on annual list.
When designing the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6, FCA engineers "introduced new strategies to better manage combustion," this helps both vehicles to deliver best-in-class EPA ratings. The engine's enhanced response helps give greater control of its 420 pound-feet of torque, providing a smoother, more comfortable driving experience.
"The 3.0-liter from FCA was one of three diesels in pickup trucks we tested this year for Wards 10 Best Engines, and we expected a tough fight among them all,” said Tom Murphy, executive editor WardsAuto World. “But the Ram 1500 proved superior and continues to impress us with ideal measures of power, torque, refinement and luxury-car smoothness."
This is the second year in a row EcoDiesel has been the only clean diesel representative on the prestigious list.
