Why the Ram 1500. A half-ton built around the cab.

The 1500 rides on coil springs at the rear instead of leaf springs, and Ram rates its ride quality best in class. Add a Crew Cab with more rear legroom than any rival and the standard driver-assist list, and it drives more like a big SUV than a work truck.

If you spend more time driving your truck than loading it, these are the parts worth a look.

  • Rear seat room

44.8 inches of rear legroom in the Crew Cab, which Ram rates best in class, with rear seats that recline.

  • Seven engines

From a 305-hp V6 mild hybrid to the 777-hp supercharged V8 in the TRX SRT.

  • Driver assists on every trim

Adaptive cruise with Stop and Go, Active Lane Management and blind-spot monitoring come on the Tradesman.

  • A bed that does more

RamBox storage, a split multifunction tailgate and up to 2 kW of on-board power are on the options list.

What changed for 2027.

The 2027 Ram 1500 carries over the current truck's body and cabin. Most of the news is at the top of the lineup, with the TRX back and a new family of street trucks, plus a handful of features moving down the trim ladder.

Here is what Ram lists as new for the model year.

Lineup

Rumble Bee arrives. A new Rumble Bee line adds a Quad Cab, short-bed widebody truck with three HEMI V8 choices, up to the 777-hp Rumble Bee SRT.

Performance

TRX SRT. The TRX comes back with an SRT badge for the first time and a 777-hp, 680 lb-ft supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8.

Features

More standard equipment. The 360-degree camera is now standard on Limited, Limited Longhorn and RHO. Laramie gets rain-sensing wipers, and Big Horn Crew Cabs with the Level 2 group add passive entry.

Off-road

A V6 Warlock. The Warlock is now offered with the 3.6-liter V6 eTorque, from $52,865. The V6 also gains the available 2 kW on-board power system.

Exterior. Each trim gets its own face.

Every trim wears its own grille surround and bumper finish, so a Tradesman, a Rebel and a Limited are easy to tell apart across a parking lot. Rebel and Warlock sit an inch higher on 33-inch tires, and RHO and TRX SRT get a wider stance.

The bed is where the 1500 adds the most options: RamBox storage bins in the bed rails, a multifunction tailgate that splits 60/40 and swings open, LED bed lighting and two 120-volt outlets.

  • LED headlamps and automatic high beams, standard
  • Multifunction tailgate with 60/40 swing-out doors, available
  • Class-exclusive RamBox bed storage, standard on Tungsten

Performance. Pick the engine for the job.

The Tradesman starts with a 3.6-liter V6 with 48-volt eTorque assist. The 420-hp twin-turbo Hurricane I6 is offered from Tradesman through Rebel, and it is the engine behind the 11,530-lb maximum tow rating. The 5.7-liter HEMI V8 eTorque is still offered on most trims.

Limited, Longhorn, Tungsten and RHO step up to the 540-hp Hurricane High-Output, and the TRX SRT uses a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI rated at 777 hp. For heavy trailers, look at trailer reverse steering control, the digital rearview mirror with tow mode and the four-corner air suspension, which levels the truck under load.

  • Up to 11,530 lb towing with the 3.0L Hurricane I6
  • Four-corner air suspension, standard on Limited and Tungsten
  • Trailer Reverse Steering Control, available from Tradesman to TRX SRT

Interior. Screens, seats and storage.

Uconnect 5 runs the dash on every trim, on an 8.4, 12 or 14.5-inch touchscreen depending on the trim. Higher trims add a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a head-up display and a 10.25-inch screen for the front passenger.

The Crew Cab's back seat reclines, with storage under the seat cushion and in the floor. Laramie, Limited and Tungsten have heated and ventilated front seats; Tungsten's adjust 24 ways and add massage.

Not sure where your trailer falls? The team at Doug Smith Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in American Fork can match a 1500 to your tow weight and show you what is in stock.
