Snow, sleet, ice … it’s that time of the year again. Old Man Winter has reappeared, making roads treacherous. Even if you live in a warm climate, holiday or work travel may take you into northern locations.

Here are a few winter driving tips that will help keep you safe. First, give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. Winter trips can sometimes take twice as long, if not longer, than usual.

Secondly, give yourself plenty of room. Space between you and the vehicle in front of you is key, especially this time of the year. Hit a patch of ice and you definitely don’t want to be bumper-to-bumper with the vehicle in front of you.

Lastly, get your vehicle buttoned up for winter. In our houses, we make sure to have fuel, that storm windows are in place and that there is salt for slippery sidewalks. It’s the same with your vehicle: adding winter tires and heavy-duty wipers are just a couple of ways to make sure you’re prepared.

Bring your vehicle to our service center here at Doug Smith Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram and our professional technicians would be happy to get you ready for winter driving.

In the market for a new car, SUV or truck? Our friendly sales staff here in American Fork, Utah, would be happy to show you around our lot and showroom.

Drive safely out there!
